My KDP Select Giveaway and the Results...

I finally gave in like so many people and decided to list my novel, Death Wish, for free on Amazon, as I had enrolled it in the KDP Select Program.

I waited until I only had a few days remaining (my Select period for this particular novel ends on the 26th of this month) and I listed it free on Thursday and Friday (March 22nd and March 23rd).

Well, what can I say? I gave away 1165 novels before I pulled the plug Friday afternoon and got down as low as 231 on free Kindle ebooks. I also made the top 100 for Kindle Romance (my lowest number on that chart was 72 in the free category Friday afternoon).

As of right now, this is where I stand:

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #20,566 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

Not too shabby for a book which was in the high 100ks Wednesday night before I decided to try this experiment. I should also mention I lowered the price from $4.49 to $2.99, at least until the novel gains some traction and then I will raise the price to $3.99 where it will stay.

I am hoping my ranking improves as the weekend goes on and I hope to get to the top 10k as that would be a great lead-in for Better Off Dead which will be released in the next couple of weeks.

I have also started a newsletter and hopefully people will sign up so I can let them know when new projects are released.

I have been a struggling, mostly-starving artist for a year come April 26th. This is the day I uploaded my first version of The Proposal: Book One (The Beautiful People) on Kindle Direct Publishing. Since then, I have released the whole serial but I am going through the process of cleaning it up and still have three more novellas to get through. I also need to release the The Beautiful People: Part Two, which will be premiering in December.

I have also written in the past year, and released: Forever 27: A Novelette (The 27 Club series), Death Wish: Book I, Death Lair: A Novella (which are both part of The Vamp Saga), The Catalyst (The Pop Stars) and Beginnings: Book I (The Plague).

My year won't be settling down either as I have a very heavy schedule of releases due this year including: Better Off Dead: Book II (The Vamp Saga), Love Voodoo: Book I (DeGeneration), Apocalypse 2012: Book II (The Plague), The Making of a Star: Book Two (The Pop Stars) and Queen of the Dead: Book III (The Vamp Saga). All the books above are either finished, in the process of being written or with my editor.

I also have yet another project in the works with another author (very excited about that but for now, it is completely **hush hush** (but we have a working title: Ties that Unbind) and I have a new series which will be premiering probably right before Queen of the Undead: Book III is released. I can't tell you much except to say it is yet another paranormal romance/urban fantasy series and it is called The Hart Family Saga. The first novel in this upcoming series is Hart Attack: Book I. A bit cheesy, I know, but I do believe it will be an added addition to my already growing number of novels and I know people will enjoy it because I have begun writing it and I am enjoying it!

Okay, until next, have a wonderful weekend and happy reading!

Post Script by Yours Truly: I should also mention that the only novellas which will remain in the KDP Select program permanently is The Beautiful People series. It has only ever sold well on Amazon and I am a firm believer of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". All other works will be available through all channels including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords (which feeds into Sony, iTunes, Kobo, et cetera).

***If you were one of the lucky people who picked up Death Wish, Death Lair is 99 cents for this weekend only so take advantage. After that, it will return to $2.99 and I will be giving away coupons to get it for half-price on Smashwords until Better Off Dead is released! How do you pick up a coupon? Just subscribe to my blog and I will email it to you!***
