Excerpt
Ashley raised a
perfectly manicured eyebrow before her blue eyes made direct contact with mine.
“By the way, I would grill Paul very closely about the retreat in Stamford. I’m
not one to spread gossip but let’s just say he wasn’t exactly on his best
behavior.”
I swear at that moment
I wanted to do something really ghetto like stand up and knock the crap out of
that smug witch but since proper women didn’t behave like that, I smiled rather
ingratiatingly and turned my head towards Talia and pretended she wasn’t there.
“What looks good for
dessert?” I questioned my best friend.
“I know because it was
the two of us getting busy underneath the sheets,” Ashley declared before she
walked off with her cousin and turned to me at the last minute with a smirk on
her face.
The lying witch. Paul
wouldn’t touch her with a ten foot pole and she had to be telling me this just
to get a reaction out of me but I refused to fall for the bait. That would have
been too easy. However, I didn’t even have a quick, witty retort prepared
therefore the WASP heiress still ended up having the last word and that pissed me
off to no avail.
“Tell me you don’t
believe a word of what she said,” Talia said in a low voice. “She’s lying and
only trying to get a rise out of you. Paul isn’t that way and he would never
hurt you.”
“I know,” I merely
replied.
However an icy exterior
had already started to form around a heart filled with a love so pure and true
for Paul and I had already felt myself beginning to go numb. I wanted to have
faith and believe the best of him but emotionally, I had already begun to
prepare for the worst.

Excerpt
I hardly doubted he acted this way in a real
relationship. Kaz and company was being paid mega-bucks to be nice to me and not “rock the
boat” so to speak. He’d managed to keep that legendary temper of his in check
and all I could think about was whether or not he was worth the time and energy
of giving up my virginity to especially knowing what I knew.
Finally, I grabbed his hand and walked back
inside with him. My behavior was childish and uncalled for and both of us knew
it.
Syd,
you think too much, an inner
voice told me, and I wanted to knock that bitch out for interfering with a plan
I had so carefully mastered. I knew what I wanted and ending up as another
notch on Kaz’s belt wasn’t it. However, as soon as I took my seat next to my
best friends who were bopping their heads to Demi Lovato’s “Heart Attack” I
knew I was instantly in trouble.
“What the hell happened to you?” Faith wondered
in an irritated tone. “Jeez, they were just getting warmed up with ‘Cock Tease’
and you had to ruin it because of course they had to be singing the song about you.”
“It wasn’t like that. I just needed some air…I
think I had too much champagne,” I offered as an excuse although I lifted my
fluted glass of Dom Perignon and sipped from the delicious bubbly.
“You are such a bullshit artist,” Laurel
responded before she shook her head with a mirthless yet mock-aggravation.
“You’re one to talk,” I murmured under my
breath.
“What was that?” Faith turned toward me in her
seat.
“Nothing.” I looked toward the stage where the band was preparing to finish up their set.

Oooh, a twofer! :) You are a busy woman. They both sound great.
Thanks, Bethany! I will be for the next few months. I will continue with the One More Night Trilogy and also start a new book once I am finished with A Summer to Remember.
It's guaranteed to be angst-ridden but I think it will do quite well as a stand-alone. Then it is back to Seasons of Love & Lust with Falling for Autumn and then I will begin Only Time from the Atonement Trilogy. It is going to be a wild and wacky summer!
